Reece Quick: Spirals, The Sun & her little Moon
At the ‘Making It’ UK screening, a documentary on the underground music scene, we all sat/stood back to listen to Reece and others play in The Museum of Soho.
…
Reece has this ability to quiet a room. To create space and shine lights onto corners inside you never knew exisisted. And then his strumming and harmonics kick in and he tears down any walls you attempted to build around your sincerity. Goosebumps az always. “Full circle”. Silent audience. Peaceful minds for sure. His voice takes you home. It reminds you of a place you forgot you always had the freedom to explore. The cheese plants blowing in the open window behind him seem to agree. It’s hard not to cry even when everything’s alright. I watched people exchange eyes in the audience. And with no words spoken everyone knows what they’re trying to say.
He starts playing spirals and all the memories from the studio come back. A true magician of our time. A wizard of the harmonics. If you let him he will send you spiralling straight to the ground.
Crows and crows fly past. It’s hard not to think about love and all the other paths you could have taken when you give yourself to the music. He catches you in the next verse and steers you back to where your feet are placed. It’s a wonder.
